You can choose a climate and temperature within a half to two hours drive: from tropical beaches to the jungle with beautiful flowers and waterfalls; from rocky deserts to rain forests with 7 meters high ferns growing as if dinosaurs would be still there (there was a “Jurassic Park” movie filmed). On one side of the island rains in the morning, on another at night. There are hills covered with grass with a landscape of England and glaciers moraines created two hundred thousands years ago on Mauna Kea volcano summit. On Big Island are white and black sand beaches and also unique on the planet, beaches created from light green crystals of olivine stones. It's a land of paradoxes, magic and harsh beauty as it's the only island where the active volcano still creates new land continuously. On this island acts the most active volcano in the world, where you can safely watch rivers of red lava flow, especially outstanding in the darkness of the night.
Hawaiian islands were and still are called a true paradise for a reason. Before the arrival of western people there were even no mosquitoes in the jungles! There were and are still no reptiles or snakes on these islands! Hawai’i is part of Polynesian culture, which is very old and advanced in lots of aspects of life. Polynesian people sailed through the Pacific ocean thousands of years before Spanish ships crossed the ocean. They had skills to read waves patterns for miles, they used maps of the sky, winds for directions. The dance of Hula became a form of entertainment for westeners; before hula dances were part of important rituals performed by kahunas.
Hawaiian healers preserved ancient art of healing, which is an important inspiration for modern psychology and medicine. The culture of Aloha, where people put great care to be truly good for each other, is the model which the western world need desperately for healing families and societies.
